Isn’t there a lot of mosquitoes in the mountains during the summer? It’s a common question we who live here in Sälen are asked. And sure, you might see some mosquitoes in the evenings, but above all you get to experience nature that surprises and impresses.
At the top of Gustavbacken in Lindvallen, we’re opening for the summer in our restaurant Snögubben from 29th of June to 9th of August.
Welcome to enjoy a coffee break, lunch or a waffle with sweeping views over the Sälen mountains.
From here, you can continue along an easy hiking trail—much of it on boardwalk—towards Stensjön or Storfjällsgraven. If you’d rather save your energy, you can take the lift up the slope. You can also reach us by bike; both cross-country and downhill trails are available here.
Whether you’re 3 or 73, there’s something for everyone in Sälen. Here in Lindvallen, you can even go alpine skiing in the summer! Or why not try the toboggan run or tubing? If you prefer to enjoy the mountains on foot or by bike, there are plenty of trails suited to both little legs and experienced adventurers. Several beautiful trails start just outside Topprestaurang Snögubben, and you can easily adjust the distance to suit your preference.
In July, the mountains’ “gold” ripens, so don’t forget to bring something to pick your cloudberries in if you visit us then. There are plenty of marshlands here, so crowding is never an issue!

If you like dancing or dance music it is a must do to visit Malung in week 29. The village turn to the dancing mecca of Sweden for a week with over 50 bands playing and entertaining guests from several countries. We run a big tent in the parc in the centre of Malung, where we serve food and drinks and music. Every night we have a live band at 8 o'clock.
